Designing Your Cage Theme

One of the coolest features BirdLand is the different opportunities for customization. The more you play, the more options become available. When you first start out there are a few backgrounds available to choose from. Before you choose a theme, you may want to click the shop icon and see what sort of accessories match the background you like and come up with a decoration plan.

Under the shop icon you’ll find the items available for purchase. Click the themes tab to view available background images. The first one is pretty basic if like simple designs, with just a blue sky and green rolling fields. This background looks great if you prefer to keep the focus on your colorful birds. Just about any accessory in the shop will go with this background.

The next options include detailed outdoor scenes with trees, hot air balloons, a beach scene and the streets of Paris. In the accessories shop, you’ll find a ton of accessories to go with these backgrounds. From butterflies and hanging plants for an outdoor look, to seashells and starfish to decorate the beach background you can create whatever look you have in mind. If you prefer a more abstract look, choose one of the single color backgrounds and select birds to stand out and create a cool cage look.

I really liked the Paris, France background. I really wanted to use the cream colored butterflies available in the accessories shop, and I thought they matched this background best.

Birdland is constantly updating with new features, but the real magic is created by the players. If you’ve built an awesome looking cage we’d love to see it. Leave a comment with a screen shot of your cage or a neighbor’s cage that’s really cool. We want to see what your own personal style looks like in BirdLand.

Fast Tips for Leveling UP!

Hey Birdland Fans! Today’s post is going to focus on earning experience in the early stages of the game. As you probably know, the only way to level up is to earn more experience. You want to level up as often as possible to unlock cool accessories and fun decorations for your cage.

One of the easiest ways to earn experience is to simply spend time with your birds. Check on them regularly, fill those food bowls and keep the water tanks full too. You earn at least one experience point every time you feed or water your birds. More if they’re really hungry. Once you have a lot of birds, it will take a lot of food to keep your birds from being hungry. A tip to make this easier is to click “fill” and continue to fill the food bowl even as the birds are eating. They’ll stop once they’re full, and you’ll earn experience points every time the bowl fills back up.

Playing with your birds also earns experience. Click each bird to see their meters. The “happy” meter is refilled by click on the “I love my parrot” button. Not only does this make the bird happy, but it also earns experience points. Expect to earn at least five experience points every time you make your bird very happy by filling up the entire happy bar. This is a great way to reach the next level and another reason why you should visit your birds several times a day.

You should be able to reach the first few levels and unlock some of the more rare bird colors, just by spending time with your own birds. At level three you get the option of a beautiful pink bird or a really cool looking white one. To see what special features are available at each level, click on the shop icon and go through the different pages. Higher level items will be locked with a message telling you the level requirement to unlock the new bird or decoration.
